Who Cares? Theyโre Just Watching.
By Adanne Udejiofor Chukwudi
Thereโs a kind of silence that isnโt peaceful itโs loud with eyes.
Not eyes of empathy or concern. Just watchers. Observers. Spectators.
People who show up not to lift, but to look.
When youโre struggling, changing, evolving, or simply choosing yourself some people donโt reach out to understand. They hover. They scroll. They whisper. They react.
Not to care.
Just to witness your moment.
To feed their curiosity or update their gossip folders.
And hereโs the hard truth: itโs not your job to perform for them.
Most people donโt care.
They just want to see how the story ends.
They want a front-row seat to your mistakes, not a hand in your healing.
And thatโs why โWho cares?โ isnโt a question itโs a declaration.
A boundary.
A reminder to bring your attention back to yourself.
More on You. Less of Them.
Youโve probably noticed it: when you’re quiet, you’re assumed broken. When you’re vocal, you’re labeled dramatic. And when you’re winning, the same eyes watching your struggle suddenly squint in disbelief.
So why bother feeding that crowd?
Pour into yourself. Dress up for no occasion. Heal loudly or quietly. Set goals and crush them even if nobody claps. Even if they’re just watching.
Because what matters most isn’t who watches.
It’s who walks with you. And most importantly, how deeply you walk with yourself.
Final Words
To anyone whoโs ever whispered about your pain, doubted your dreams, or pretended to check in just to get the tea you owe them nothing.
Let them watch.
Let them talk.
Let them wonder.
And while they watch, you?
You rise.
