I recently came across this photo of myself with Dr. Ben Calvert, who served as the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the University of South Wales (USW). Seeing it stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t just a graduation photograph. It was a reminder of one of the boldest decisions I have ever made.
As news of Dr. Calvert’s resignation marks the end of an important chapter in the University’s history, I found myself reflecting on my own journey and asking a simple but powerful question: What if fear had won?What if I had convinced myself I was too old to start again? What if I had allowed uncertainty to stop me from leaving my comfort zone?What if I had never boarded that flight to the UK to pursue another degree? The truth is, I would not be the person I am today. Studying at the University of South Wales transformed more than my academic qualifications. It transformed my thinking, expanded my perspective, introduced me to remarkable people, and gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities I once thought were beyond my reach.
Today, I work at the intersection of AI, digital innovation, career development, and creative technology helping professionals position themselves for success while continually embracing new opportunities to learn and grow.This photograph reminds me that our greatest breakthroughs often begin with a decision that feels uncomfortable.
