Some women carry water.
Some carry families.
Some carry dreams the world once told them were impossible.
Today, on International Women’s Day, I am thinking about the many faces of a Black woman’s strength.
The woman in the village who wakes before sunrise and works until her bones ache.
The young girl walking barefoot with responsibilities far beyond her age.
The woman fighting silent battles no one sees.
The woman who refused to be limited and built a life that once felt unreachable.
And the woman who raises her voice when the world tells her to stay quiet.
Different journeys.
Different battles.
The same strength.
Behind every success story is a history of resilience, sacrifice, and courage that rarely gets the spotlight.
Today we celebrate the victories.
But we also honour the struggle, the endurance, and the quiet bravery that brought many women here.
To every woman still fighting, still building, still believing —
your story matters.
