I Have Done Most Jobs in the UK. This Is My Story. If you look at me today, you might see someone who speaks with confidence, mentors others, builds businesses, and shares opportunities online. But what you don’t see are the countless mornings, tears, disappointments, and sacrifices that built this version of me.

I have done most jobs in the UK not because I lacked ambition, but because I refused to let pride stop me from surviving. When I arrived in the UK, I made a promise to myself: No honest work is beneath me. That promise changed my life.I have stood for 13 hours on my feet with barely any break. I have worked outside in freezing temperatures of -1ยฐC, soaked by rain until my clothes clung to my skin. My hands were numb, my feet hurt, and sometimes I questioned whether I could make it through another hour. But I did.I have woken up at 4:00 a.m. to get ready for a job that started at 5:30 a.m.

While many people were still asleep, I was already on my way to work, determined not to be late because I knew someone else was waiting for the same opportunity.I have walked for over an hour in the early hours of the morning just to work a three-hour shift. Imagine spending more time travelling than actually working.

It didn’t make financial sense, but I knew that every shift was another step closer to stability.I have been rejected.I have been overlooked.I have been underestimated.I have been spoken to harshly.I have even been spat on.Some days I cried after work. Other days I questioned whether moving to another country had been the right decision. There were moments when I smiled in front of people while silently wondering how I would make it through the next week.Yet every setback taught me something.

Every difficult job built resilience.Every early morning strengthened my discipline.Every rejection made me improve.Every challenge prepared me for the opportunities that would eventually come. Looking back today, I realise none of those experiences were wasted. I worked in retail. I worked in logistics. I worked in customer service. I worked in healthcare. Each role taught me different skills. Every manager, every colleague, every shift added something valuable to my journey.

People often celebrate the destination, but they rarely celebrate the process. Social media shows promotions, certificates, job offers, business launches, and smiling photographs. It rarely shows frozen fingers. It rarely shows the aching legs after standing for hours. It rarely shows the lonely walks home.It rarely shows the fear of wondering whether another shift will come next week.Success is often built in places nobody applauds. Those difficult days also changed my perspective. I learned never to look down on anyone because of the work they do.The cleaner deserves respect. The warehouse worker deserves respect. The care assistant deserves respect. The supermarket worker deserves respect. The delivery driver deserves respect.Every honest worker is building a future that other people cannot always see.

Today, people ask me how I became confident enough to mentor others on careers, NHS applications, LinkedIn, and personal branding. The answer is simple. Because I have lived it.I don’t teach from theory. I teach from experience. I know what it feels like to desperately need a job. I know what rejection emails feel like. I know what it means to start from zero in a new country. I know what it means to keep going when nobody notices your effort. And because I know those feelings, I genuinely want to help other people shorten their own journey.

If you’re reading this while going through your own difficult season, don’t be ashamed of where you are.Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Don’t let temporary circumstances define your future. Keep showing up.Keep learning.Keep applying.Keep improving. Your current job is not your final destination. One day, the very story you’re trying to hide may become the story that inspires thousands of people.

When I think about everything I’ve been through, I can only say one thing:God came through. Not always when I wanted. Not always how I expected. But always at the right time. Every closed door redirected me. Every delay prepared me. Every hardship strengthened me. Every prayer was heard.

Today, I look back with gratitude instead of bitterness. The rain didn’t stop me.The freezing weather didn’t stop me.The early mornings didn’t stop me.The long walks didn’t stop me.The insults didn’t stop me.The rejection didn’t stop me.Because what God has planned for you cannot be destroyed by temporary hardship. My journey is proof that resilience pays.So if life feels difficult today, don’t quit.Your breakthrough could be much closer than you think. And when it finally comes, you’ll look back and realise that every painful step was preparing you for a future greater than you could imagine. To God be the glory for every job, every lesson, every opportunity, and every victory.
